Volunteers in the Day Hospice interact with patients and staff in a social setting, meeting and greeting patients as they arrive, talking and listening to them, helping with meals and social activities.
Full Description:
•Provide a warm and welcoming atmosphere for Day Hospice patients, relatives and visitors
•To preserve patient, carer, staff, and Hospice confidentiality
•To attend patient briefing and debriefing sessions at the beginning and end of the day
•To prepare and serve drinks and snacks to patients
•To participate actively as a Day Hospice team member
•To assist in social and recreational activities to ensure patient’s full enjoyment and benefit from each day
•To report any changes or observations about patient’s condition to the nurse in charge
•To assist with escorting patients from their home to the Hospice and back again in the ambulance
•To ensure the Day Hospice kitchen is left clean and tidy.
