Ref 40 - 1738
2 Youth groups ( Monday 5-7yrs and 8-p7: Thursday Youth Cafe s1-s7 ).
Our volunteers have the same training as our paid staff. We offer our volunteers opportunities to play an active role in our activities.
For over 3 years the community centre has been running youth provision after Highland Council withdrew its funding.
The Management Committee took on its commitment because we all believe the importance of offering a save haven for young people.
In many ways our success has been our downfall because since we took over this provision the numbers both registering and attending have more than quadruppled necessitating continous recruitment to cope with the ever increasing numbers.
The opportunities we offer are for both Monday and Thursday evenings and we fully train any volunteer giving them experience for a CV and a great insight into youth work which offers many transferable skills.
We value our volunteers so give them opportunitys to be totally involved in their respective teams and in preparing and running activities.
Our leaders come from a wide range of backgrounds and have a variety of skills which they will happily share. The teams also offer encouragement and support to both volunteers and new employees. By volunteering and gaining experience it can be beneficial when applying for a job in that feild.
