- General sales floor duties (customer service, stock replenishment, till operation, security awareness)
- Merchandising and display (could include designing and completeing promotional window displays
- General stockroom duties (sorting, preparation, pricing, health & safety)
department supervision (e.g. setting up an event or permanent department to attract customers (clothing/books/household etc)
- Administrative duties (ordering and receipt of new goods, related paperwork, checking statements, stocktakes etc. Weekly branch paperwork & filing)
- Market research (analysis of competition, local trading, research retail environment through the national presss, customer surveys.)
- Recruiting additional volunteers (could be through contact with local colleges, schools, libraries etc)
