Ref 40 - 296
The Special Constabulary is a volunteer body of men and women, designed to assist the regular police and is drawn mainly from the communities served by the force. Special constables perform constabulary duties and exercise constabulary powers under the supervision of, and supported by, regular police officers.
Special constables are expected to achieve a level of proficency which will enable them to assist regular officers in showing local policing problems, and therefore enhance the overall contribution of the partnership between the police and public. To apply for this volunteer opportunity, complete the Special Constable form on the website - www.northern.police.uk
There are opportunities across the whole of the Highland Council area (and beyond). A special constable would normally be expected to report for duty at a local police station. Travel expenses are paid.
