Ref 44 - 709
A unique opportunity to help maintain, renew and extend the track and structures of the Strathspey Railway between Aviemore and Grantown-on-Spey.This is mainly an outdoor opportunity which uses traditional skills to keep the track and formation in good repair and station buildings, bridges and fencing structurally sound and presentable to the public. Ladies very welcome.
Working on the track and formation is often an energetic activity involving changing and packing sleepers, keeping the track in alignment, maintenance of drainage and cutting back lineside growth. No previous railway knowledge is necessary as this is always done in groups and you will soon learn the necessary skills.Working on bridges and buildings involves the usual construction 'trowel'trades, woodworking, plumbing etc.
