Group Organiser - Action on Depression

Ref 40 - 1768

Action on Depression (AOD) has a network of self-help/peer support groups across Scotland for people affected by low mood anxiety and depression.
The main purpose of the volunteer role is to co-ordinate locally based self-help/peer support groups, usually with one other person.

•To share responsibility for running the group with another co-ordinator. This includes welcoming people, encouraging and guiding discussion as well as dealing sensitively with issues, or conflict that may occasionally arise.
•To ensure that the group runs according to the AOD Affiliation Agreement (currently being developed)
•To administer the group efficiently regarding venue bookings, providing details of meeting dates and locations to group members & AOD
•To ensure that the group raises sufficient funds to cover costs of meeting room hire, volunteer expenses, cost of any activities that the group take part in
•To ensure that the group has an accessible venue in which to meet
•To promote and raise awareness of the group locally (with support from AOD)
•To liaise with relevant staff at Action on Depression
