Group Leader/Helper - Woodcraft Folk Scotland

Ref 40 - 1445

We help young people become confident and active, to build a world based on equality, peace, justice and co-operation. We run weekly group nights, also outdoor activities. We need people to help start and run new groups.  Training and mentoring provided.

Full description:  This exciting new project is recruiting to help start up and run groups for young people aged 10-15.  With training and the support of experienced Group Leaders the volunteers will eventually take over the running of the group when they have enough confidence, skills and experience.
Volunteers will benefit from the project by receiving
Youth Leader Training
Outdoor skills (Bushcraft) Training
Support and mentoring from experienced leaders
The opportunity to be part of a progressive youth-led organisation
The project is part of the Woodcraft Folk, a unique progressive educational movement for children and yooung people - both boys and girls - designed to develop sself-confidence and activity in society, with the aim of building a world based on equality, peace, social justice and co-operation.
Volunteers will start off as Group Helpers, and recieve training on how to work with young people.  Along with the Group Leaders, they will start to run weekly meetings for the young people themselves.
During the first few months of the new group volunteers, leaders and young people will go on one or two camping/hostelling weekends where they will learn outdoor skills and also practice working co-operativly as a team.  This will help form a cohesive group, and also form the basis for some activities in the weekly meetings.
Eventually, when the volunteers have enough experience they will take over the running of the group completely.
