Group Facilitator and Support Volunteer - Eating Disorders Association

Ref 40 - 161

Are you interested in supporting people affected by Eating Disorders? Do you have experience of an eating disorder, are a carer, family member or friend of someone who has an eating disorder or other knowledge or experience in this area? Would you like to support others by running a group for people with eating disorders or a Carers' Support Group with other volunteers?
Beat is committed to ensuring that volunteering for the B-eat Network is a rewarding, positive and safe experience. If you have personal experience of eating disorders, you must be out of treatment, recovered and not have displayed any symptoms of eating distress for a minimum period of two years.

The well-being of B-eat volunteers comes first and foremost and you must ensure that you are well enough to support others effectively, without this having a detrimental effect on your own health. If you wish to discuss your recovery, please contact the Network Development Officer in confidence.
Groups will be run by volunteer Group Facilitators, who all receive appropriate training, and continue to be supported by Beat with additional training opportunities and supervision. Volunteer Group Facilitators set up and run support groups for either sufferers or carers who meet every 2-4 weeks.
