ASPIRENorth is a schools outreach project for the North of Scotland. It was established on 1st January 2006 as a major widening participation project to help address issues of low progression to higher education in the north of Scotland.Engaging with young people from P7 to S4 to raise awareness of the value of post-school education, provide impartial and relevant information and advice and deliver a programme of activities which motivate, encourage aspiration and build self-confidence.
ASPIRENorth has developed a portfolio of activities/workshops to be used with Primary 7 pupils through to S4s. All volunteers will receive training before undertaking any activities and ASPIRENorth staff will offer on-going support throughout the volunteer experience. Students will act as positive role models to pupils, help demystify misconceptions and raise awareness of further and higher education.
