Chairperson - MS Society Scotland

This opportunity would allow the volunteer to work closely with individuals affected by MS, health professionals and other relevant partners.  With ongoing training and support the volunteer may learn new skills or develop existing ones whilst helping others at the same time.
Responsibilities include:
- Ensuring through a regular review of activities that the branch is providing the essential activities required of branches and that it is providing (or working towards) those set out in the Core Branch Activities Document.
- Preparing the branch committee agenda in consultation with the Secretary.
- Chairing committee meetings, ensuring that the committe works effectively together and that agreed actions are followed up.
- Acting as host at branch functions or events.
- Ensuring that branch works with other branches at local and national level.
- Representing the branch in dealings with other bodies.
- Representing, or ensuring the branch is represented at National Council meetings.
- Monitoring the work of the committe and ensuring that branch members are involved wherever possible.
- Acting as arbiter and judge in all matters concerning the branch (with other officers as appropriate).
- Hold and, when required, update the Branch Handbook.
- Ensure a smooth handover of office to successor.
- Liase with national office staff as appropriate.
